The MTV EMAs celebrate the musical acts, videos, and songs that were most popular in Europe that year. The extensive list of nominees for 2019 include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, and BTS.

The MTV EMAs also nominate several artists from each region for their Best Act (Home Region) awards. The Best Korean Act Award nominees this year are AB6IX, ATEEZ, CIX, ITZY, and IZ*ONE.
Anyone who’s anyone in the music world is headed to Spain this weekend, to be celebrated as part of MTV’s Europe Music Awards, or as they’re more commonly known, The EMAs.

The first bash was held in 1994 at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, five years after the Berlin Wall came down.Since then, each year, the show heads to a different European city – it was last held in London in 2017 and last year, it was another Spanish city, Bilbao that got to celebrate with some of the biggest stars in the music charts.

It’s set to be another dazzling awards ceremony – here’s everything you need to know about this year’s event:
When are the EMAs and how can I watch on TV?

The 2019 EMAs will air live globally from FIBES Conference & Exhibition Centre of Seville, Spain on Sunday 3 November. They will be on British TV on this same date at 8pm on MTV.
Iconic rock act Green Day have also been announced to headline MTV World Stage Seville at the city’s spectacular Plaza de España the day before, on Saturday 2 November, with a performance to be broadcast during the EMAs on the Sunday.

Joining Green Day on the stage performing will be Dua Lipa, Halsey, Rosalía, Niall Horan, Akon, Ava Max, Mabel and NCT 127 too.Here are the nominations in full – voting (which can be done on the site mtvema.com) closes on 2 November 11.59pm (CEST).

Who is nominated for an MTV EMA award?

Announcing that they will be joining artists including Dua Lipa, Halsey, Green Day and Ava Max as MTV Europe Music Awards performers for 2019, they shared the news on social media. They told fans: ‘Hey guys! Yes, we are very excited to announce that we will be performing at the 2019 MTV EMAs in Seville, Spain. Wooo! ‘Yes, we are very excited, it will air live on November 3rd, on a Sunday – don’t forget to tune in everybody. See you soon.’ The band will be the first K-Pop stars to take the stage at the EMAs, and have yet to confirm which songs they will play on the night. The full list of performers so far is Becky G and Akon, Rosalia, Halsey, Green Day, Ava Max, Mabel, Niall Horan, Dua Lipa and NCT 127. The nominations for this year’s awards are led by Ariana Grande, who is up for seven EMAs, including Best Artist, Best Video for ‘thank u, next’ and Best Song for ‘7 rings’.
